Supreme Court appointed commission report on the Manipur Encounters

We had recently written about Manipur Encounters in our article titled “Manipur Encounters – The Grossest Abuse of AFSPA” about the abuse of AFSPA by the security forces of Manipur Rifles as well as Commandos of Manipur Police on the behest of the ruling party and its cohorts who siphoned off large chunks of Central Government Grants through kickbacks from private contractors. When HRLN (Human Rights Law Network) moved the Supreme Court representing the young windows of Manipur whose partners were killed in these ‘encounters’, Supreme Court was aghast at the enormity of the killings and appointed a high powered commission chaired by former Supreme Court Judge Santosh Hegde and two other members, one being the former Chief Election Commisioner Shri Lyngdoh and the other being former DGP of Karnataka. I was invited by the widows association to help them before the Commission and had the opportunity to conduct most of the cross examinations of the police and Manipur Rifles personnel both in Imphal as well as in Delhi. The report of this Supreme Court appointed commission is out now and can be accessed through the link below:
