FirstPost.com is Network 18 group’s online news portal. Network 18 owns multiple media properties including CNN-IBN, IBN7, CNBC Awaaz etc. In 2012, the sinking Network 18 group was propped up by a Reliance investment worth 2700 cores. Ever since, Network 18 and FirstPost have been pro-BJP media outlets. FirstPost’s editor R. Jagannathan writes ‘advertorials’ promoting BJP in the garb of political articles. In fact, R. Jagannathan openly endorses BJP even on social media. The following tweet would exemplify the same:
However, editors of Media organizations turning pro-Modi, pro-BJP is the case in pretty much all media outlets these days whether it’d be Rahul Kanwal of Headlines Today or Arnab Goswami of Times Now. What sets apart FirstPost is that they are now openly asking to vote for BJP and Modi. FirstPosts’s official moderator since quite sometime has been openly asking for votes in Modi’s name. The screenshot below will show one such instance when the moderator asks Muslims to vote for Modi.
The moderator’s entire profile and all the comments can be seen at http://disqus.com/fpeditors/. If you browse through all the comments, you’d see what a rabid BJP/Modi supporter he/she is and behaves and talks much like the neighbourhood BJP goon.
It seems that Ambani’s 2700 crores investment in Network 18 is paying a lot of dividends for both Reliance and Narendra Modi. From Rajat Sharma’s fixed interview of Narendra Modi on India TV to FirstPost.com openly promoting Modi’s communal politics, journalism as we knew is dead now.
