Dipesh and Abhishek’s Parents Wish to Re-open Case Against Asaram

Dipesh and Abhishek Vaghela, two cousins and students of Asaram’s gurukul in Ahmedabad were found dead under mysterious circumstances near Asaram’s ashram at Motera in July 2008. The kids had disappeared on 3rd July 2008 and their decomposed bodies were found at Sabarmati riverbed on 5th July, 2008 with many organs missing. Shanti Lal Vaghela and Praful Vaghela, the parents of the children had pressed charges of black magic and tantric practices against Asaram, his son and other ashram employees

Modi Government had actively shielded Asaram by rejecting the parent’s demand for a CBI probe and tricking them into breaking their fast on pretext of false promises. BJP-VHP goons headed by Govind Prajapati, MLA from Palanpur had repeatedly threatened the families of these children.

Now with Asaram’s arrest, many people have renewed hope. More sexual harassment complains are flowing in against Asaram now. Dipesh and Abhishek’s parents also have renewed hope of getting justice and wish to re-open the case.

Jan Sangharsh Manch lawyer and activist Subramaniam Iyer who is representing the parents stated that the case can be put forward for re-investigation if someone brings up new evidences.

There is a possibility that many people may have gained confidence to speak the truth after Asaram’s arrest. If that happens, we can approach the court and request a fresh inquiry under section 178(3)(8) of CrPC
